The Isle of Man is a small Island with a big reputation, particularly when it comes to gambling.  In an effort to remain at the forefront of what has been cited as one of the most innovative and rapid growing areas of electronic enterprise the Isle of Man is exempting certain workers employed in the IT sector from work permits.
The exemption will only apply to contracts lasting at least twelve months and individuals must earn a salary of at least £25,000 per annum.
Individuals must also have one of the following:-
– At least three years experience in an ICT role
– A computer science degree
– Hold certain technical or vocational qualifications
– Be able to demonstrate competency at a specified level of the skills framework for the information age
E-gaming is the Islands fastest growing sector currently contributing to approximately 25 percent of the Islands national income.  It is hoped that by waiving the work permit requirement in this way it will encourage the level of expertise to the Island needed in order to secure the future of this sector.
