On 11 August 2015 Hong Kong launched its one-stop web portal to provide information for people considering relocating to Hong Kong. This is only one of a number of initiatives ongoing to attract professional contractors to the city.
In an address made by the Chief Executive in January it was announced that Hong Kong was to be proactive in attracting talent due to challenges presented by an ageing society, shrinking workforce and a declining birth rate.
This portal entitled ‘Hong Kong Welcomes U’ provides a wide range of information on the following subjects;
- Education
- Investment
- Immigration matters
- Social, recreational and cultural activities
There is also to be a relaxation on the arrangements under admission schemes to encourage talented professionals to go and stay in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is famous for being a Western city with an Eastern feel to it. It is also one of the world’s biggest international trading posts and a prosperous financial centre. For these reasons it already attracts high numbers of expats from all over the world and with the ongoing promotional events that Hong Kong are now holding worldwide to promote this new portal it looks set to attract even more.
